The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large particles and clean them as required. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
best budget robot vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.
For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
